Expression of sexuality is a part of life no matter what age we are and therefore older people with dementia also need to be considered.

When presented with these challenging situations, actions taken by health professionals are often quite reactive, rather than proactive, with many staff simply not knowing what to do.

There is no singular orthodox approach in responding to sexual behaviours of people with dementia. However, we should empower them in their own decision-making process as much as possible.
