This course aims to train participants to use PainChek®, a multi-platform app for smart devices that facilitates pain assessments for people living with dementia.
Undertreated pain is responsible for a considerable burden of disease for people living with dementia, particularly those who have diminished abilities to communicate. PainChek® has previously been found to be as valid and reliable as the Abbey Pain Scale, one of the most commonly utilised pain assessments in Australian residential care facilities. Using case studies, flexible learning pathways, and knowledge resources, this course upskills participants in identifying the behavioural expressions of pain, and the correct use of the PainChek® app.
The course consists of 3 modules and covers:

Continuing Professional Education Statement
Completion of this course provides 1.5 hours of professional education – a certificate of completion will be issued after satisfactory course completion that includes passing three simulated case studies.
