Dementia Training Australia is offering a new online course for shift workers who care at night for people with dementia.
What started as a program to improve the sleep of people with dementia at one Life Care site has led to a fundamental shift in how the South Australian aged care provider implements and embeds person-centred care for all residents with dementia, not just at night but 24 hours a day.
Tokyo restaurant “The Restaurant of Order Mistakes”, invited waiters and waitresses, all of whom have dementia, to volunteer their time in the lead up to World Alzheimer’s Day 2017. The experience served up joy and laughter!
Construction has started on a house set to change how older people live, underpinned by a set of design principles developed by DTA Executive Director, Professor Richard Fleming.
Undergraduate students across Australia can win prizes of up to $2000 and help make a difference to people living with dementia in the 2017 National Dementia Storytelling Competition.
COURSES
All of DTA’s online courses are free.
Dementia Training Australia is supported by funding from the Australian Government under the Dementia and Aged Care Services fund.
To enrol in a course, you must first sign up for a DTA account.
Once you’re logged into your DTA Profile, you can enrol into a course.
You can see your course registrations in your DTA profile.
Note: Pending enrolments – You will receive a link into the course, on the eve of the session start date
Note: Certificates are available in your DTA Profile once you have completed the course, the course date has ended and DTA’s eLearning coordinator has reviewed it.
You are welcome to take DTA courses if you live outside of Australia, however if learner quota is near full then preference will be given to Australian enrolments.
You will receive a link into the course, on the eve of the course start date.
There is no early access into courses.

Each participant must individually register for a course, in order to receive a Certificate.
A course can be completed at your leisure and across many intervals.
